Seals can fulfil a range of functions: impermeability, thermal insulation, protection, or connection. Being placed between two objects, seals can be subject to high forces and to wear.
Inclusion of technical textiles reinforces the structure of seals. MDB Texinov® develops textile structures using glass, aramid, or other fibres to provide high strength and resistance (high temperature resistance, for example).
Often available as cords, braids, or strips, seals reinforced with technical textiles are an advantageous and long-lasting solution compared to other materials (such as asbestos and ceramic fibre for thermal insulation, for instance).
